Philippa Saunders

Honorific Prefix

Prof
I am a biomedical scientist who has spent more than 30 years investigating the mechanisms that are responsible for the impact of sex steroids (androgens and oestrogens) on reproductive and other tissue systems. My current research is focused on finding better treatments for disorders such as endometriosis and heavy menstrual bleeding that affect millions of individuals. I am co-Director of the EXPPECT Centre which is an interdisciplinary team of researchers and health care professionals based at the Bioquarter in Edinburgh focused on improving the care of individuals with endometriosis. We value the input and support of patient organisations and our collaborations with colleagues world-wide who are working together to find better treatments for the symptoms associated with endometriosis including chronic pain and infertility.
