Sophie’s PhD title is 'Knowing Sex: A qualitative study of the knowledge practices and experiences of teenage girls in Scotland and the Netherlands.' It looks into the knowledge practices of teenage girls in the Netherlands and Scotland on the subject of sexuality and sexual practices. Using the Deleuzian concept of assemblages it will explore the different knowledges created, shared and received by teenage girls, in a response to the moral panics surrounding girlhood and sexuality. For this purpose, participants will be interviewed and subsequently asked to keep video diaries. The aim of the research is to add the voices of teenage girls to the existing scholarship of teenage sexuality.
