Ever wondered what fellow young scholars of the humanities would say if you put them in a room together and asked: "How do you actually study things and make claims?" Now's your chance to find out!

Join us for Methods in Dialogue, a two-hour workshop from GENDER.ED bringing together PhD students across the Humanities whose research touches on gender and sexuality, whether that's your main focus or one aspect of your project.

This isn't a lecture. Expect ‘borrow a method’ thought experiments and plenty of space to swap ideas with peers who work differently than you do.

Come discover what your discipline assumes that others would find strange, and leave with new tools, new contacts, and a few good questions.

Why? Because can end up feeling stuck on our own little island if we cannot connect

Who? Any PhD student in the humanities

When? 5 October 2026, 13:00-15:00

Where? Edinburgh Futures Institute, Room 1.60
Spaces are limited, so sign up early!

Whether you're deep into fieldwork, archives, texts, or theory, if your research addresses questions of gender and sexuality, we want you at the table.
