Leah McCabe

Leah McCabe is a ESRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Politics and International Relations. Her research explores the framing of domestic abuse policy in post-devolution Scotland, with a particular interest in framing debates, contestations (including within feminist movements) and resistance. She also studies the conceptualisation and operationalisation of intersectionality in equality policy.   Her major research interests are:
  • Gender and politics
  • Intersectionality
  • Gender-based violence
  • Social movements (especially feminist movements)
  • Framing politics and contentious politics
  • Institutional and constitutional change
  • Feminist institutionalism
  Her current projects include:
  • Change, Continuity, and Contestations: Framing Domestic Abuse Policy in Scotland Since 1998 (ESRC)
  • Transforming Staff-Student Partnerships: Co-creating curriculum through the course Understanding Gender in the Contemporary World (Principal Teaching Award Scheme, University of Edinburgh)
