16 Days International Blogathon

The 16 Days International Blogathon is an annual collaboration between GENDER.ED at the University of Edinburgh, the Australian Human Rights Institute at the University of New South Wales and Dr B R Ambedkar University Delhi with guest curators in 2023 - Margherita von Brentano Center at Freie Universitat Berlin, for the Una Europa Gender and Equality Network (UGEN) to raise awareness about the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.

Daily blogs are posted by activists, academics and campaigners from around the world addressing key issues. To give you a sense of the themes covered in recent years:

2020 arts-based approaches to addressing GBV;

2021 histories, legacies, myths and memories;

2022 migration, mobilities and displacement;

2023 sexual violence and harassment in higher education institutions.

Our contributors are global: they include academics, activists, and practitioners from the UK and Europe, North America, Africa, South Asia, Australia and Asia Pacific.

After another successful run of the blogathon in 2023, we have decided to draw this initiative to a close. From 2024 onwards, we will be focusing our energies on collating a selection of the blogs from across the 6 years that the blogathon ran and bringing them out as an edited collection.
